Vision
Poverty in biblical perspective Woord en Daad is motivated by the biblical task to take care of our poor neighbour. This takes place in a sinful world. Our work is deeply connected to the anticipated advent of the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness (Matthew 6:33a). We regard our activities as signs of this Kingdom.
Irrespective of persons Woord en Daad chooses for the very poorest, irrespective of their ethnical background, religion, sex, or political orientation.
The whole person In our view, poverty transcends material aspects. It also has a structural, psychological and spiritual dimension. Development work has to pay attention to these diverse aspects.
Responsibilities back and forth People have to assume responsibility. In the rich North, for the poor people far away. Those in the poor South, for themselves and for others. People, such as woman and children, who are less able to assume responsibility, are entitled to aid.
Woord en Daad will represent those who are unable to make themselves heard. We want to help those who are able to carry responsibility but lack the means to do so, so that they can support themselves.
Working with local Christian partners Woord en Daad works structurally together with Christian partner organizations. They have the same basis and share the same vision as Woord en Daad. Because these organizations are embedded in the local situation and their knowledge and skills, we are able to work effectively.
Reliable, open, honest We always want to be accountable for the way we operate and spend our funds. Therefore, we are always searching for an optimal balance between high quality and low costs.
